The Artwork of
Robert "Lowbrow Bob" Birchfield

Born August 7th, 1968 in a small town in Ohio, Robert began drawing at an early age. He developed a comic strip around the age of 10 called Gimpy Golfer that he dreamed he would one day be syndicated like Garfield and Calvin and Hobbs.

As years went by without any luck, he decided to

try his hand with an acrylic painting of Gimpy. He

continued to paint several paintings featuring

Gimpy as he quickly fell in love with Acrylic painting.

Many years would pass and the cartoon paintings had run its course and he did not paint for a few years before picking it back up. Being a cartoonist, he knew he loved to tell a story. That is when he found Surrealism, it was a way to express his imagination and he could just paint what he felt, no rules, just paint.

Moving to Florida at the young age of 14, he also fell in love with doing Tiki paintings, the act of bringing them to life was the real attraction. His most successful tiki painting was Rum Runner. The original sold quickly and the reprints are still selling to date.
